Science and methodology

We learn what’s normal for you, and tell you when it changes.

Most health advice is built for the average person, not for you. Aler works differently. It learns your normal from your own history, picks the most accurate device when two disagree, and never tells you anything it cannot trace back to your own numbers. Below is how it works, and where we stop: Aler shows you what changed; what to do about it is between you and your clinician.

Method

How Aler reads you

Five steps, in the same order, every day. They are built to catch small changes early, often before you would feel them in a workout or see them in your blood work.

01

Every number shows its source

Every reading arrives tagged with where it came from. Tap any number and Aler shows you the device it came from, how it got here, and the readings behind it. Nothing shows up without a source.

02

When two devices disagree, Aler picks one

Your watch and your ring will not always agree. For each number, Aler picks the source it trusts more and tells you which one it used. If better data comes in late, it checks again and updates the record.

03

A normal that is only yours

Aler learns what is normal for you from your own history, and leans on your recent weeks more than the months before. It only scores days that are finished, so a day still in progress is never counted against you.

04

It reads everything together

Your wearables, blood work, medicines, supplements, genetics, and even the air around you are read together, not one at a time. One number moving on its own is usually nothing. Several moving together is worth a closer look.

05

Backed by your data, or you never see it

Before Aler tells you anything, it checks that the claim traces back to real numbers in your record. If it cannot, you never see it. Anything truly urgent is caught by fixed medical rules that run first and never wait. And on a quiet day, Aler stays quiet. No news really is good news.

Candor

What we do not claim

Being honest about the limits matters as much as the method. Here are ours.

Not a medical device

Aler is wellness software. It is not FDA-cleared, and it does not treat, monitor, or manage any condition.

Not a diagnosis

Aler shows you patterns and explains what changed. It never names a disease, and it never tells you what to take.

Early is the goal, not a number

Aler is built to catch changes early, and it looks every day. We will not promise how early, though. That depends on you and on what your body is doing, and any single number would be a false promise.

Your clinician decides

Aler shows you what changed and how it knows. What to do about it is up to you and your clinician.

Aler's sleep screen. Under the sleep-stage bar it reads: composition only, this source does not record the order of stages.
The same rule, already shipped. Your watch reports how much deep, light and REM sleep you got, but not the order they came in. So Aler draws the amounts and says so on the screen, rather than inventing a chart it cannot stand behind.

Aler is HIPAA-aware by design: your record is encrypted, every read is logged, and kept on its own, never mixed with anyone else’s.

Breadth

Everything Aler reads

Everything you connect is read together, in one place. Your body does not keep its systems in separate boxes, so Aler does not either.

Wearables

Whoop connects directly. On iPhone through Apple Health and on Android through Health Connect, Aler reads Oura, Withings, Samsung, Eight Sleep, and the 400-plus devices behind them.

Blood work

Upload a report or type in your results. Aler removes duplicates, tracks each result over time, keeps the lab’s own normal range exactly as written, and explains 83 common blood markers in plain words.

Medicines and supplements

Enter them once and Aler fills in the rest: the official FDA label, what class each medicine is in, a check that flags a dose that looks too high or too low as you type it, and, for supplements with several ingredients, how much of each you are really getting.

Genetics

Upload a raw genetics file and it joins the rest of your record, used as background for everything else, not a one-off novelty report.

Environment

Air quality, pollen, UV, weather, altitude, and water are read alongside your wearables and blood work. What is going on around you affects your health, so Aler treats it that way.

Medical records

Aler connects to the record systems your care team already uses, so your history, conditions, and past results land on the same timeline. Your chart and your own record stop being two separate places.

Lab networks

Results come in on their own from the big lab companies, with nothing to upload. A new set lands in your record the day it is ready, already cleaned up and lined up against everything before it.

Pharmacy connections

What you fill and refill comes straight from your pharmacy, so what you actually picked up is on record. New prescriptions, and the ones you have not refilled, show up without you typing a thing.

Imaging and radiology

Scan results connect from your imaging providers and sit with the rest of your record. Body composition, bone density, and heart scores line up next to your blood work and wearables, not off in another portal.

Aler keeps improving, and we will publish notes on how the method works as the beta grows.
